Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What is Heritage Wholesalers?
A: Heritage Wholesalers is a new division of R H Enterprises, Inc, which also includes Papa’s Thrift Shop and Heritage Collectibles. Heritage Wholesalers sells merchandise to flea marketers, small retailers and other vendors on a pick & choose basis right off our shelves, with great discounts (up to 60% off retail) for small purchases, and even deeper discounts on many items for bulk purchases of $625.00 (retail price) or more.
Q: Who owns/runs Heritage Wholesalers?
A: Heritage Wholesalers, Papa’s Thrift Shop and Heritage Collectibles are owned by the husband and wife team of John & Linda Snyder. We are well-known in the community, long-time members of the Chamber of Commerce, and active on various boards & committees. The businesses are (supposed to be) part-time ventures for us.
Q: What kind of items are at Heritage Wholesalers?
A: We never really know! It all depends on what we get at auctions, cleanouts & other sources. Right now we have angels, Asian wall art, candles, carousel horse figurines, Christmas decorations, Coke advertising collectibles, cookbooks, kids & other books, costume jewelry & jewelry boxes, dish sets & glassware, posters & framed prints (animals such as tigers and kittens, vehicles, scenery, fantasy unicorns & wizards, teddy bears, etc), record albums, salt & pepper shakers, and small placques & other decoratives, as well as lots of miscellaneous items. The selection may vary widely from month to month (or even day to day). We do not carry food items.
Q: Why would I buy from Heritage Wholesalers?
A: Wow… There are lots of reasons! It’s quick & easy (much better than digging through dirty basements & throwing out half of what you find, and far less time consuming than clean outs or auctions… believe us, we know!), there probably won’t be other vendors with the same merchandise, we’re local & nearby, the pricing is designed to be very profitable for you, and while there’s no minimum or maximum amount you must purchase, the more you buy, the more you save!
Q: Does Heritage Wholesalers have its own separate shop?
A: Nope. The retail center at 5 Park Street (Papa’s Thrift Shop) and 189 Main Street (Heritage Collectibles) in Lewiston is open for fun, quality shopping to the general public – and some of that inventory is available at a discount for flea marketers & other vendors. The only real difference is in the pricing. Those with Resellers Certificates can buy any product(s) in the shop at discounts that may be 10%, 25%, 33%, 50% or even 60%; with bulk purchases, for those items with 33%, 50% or 60% discounts, there can be even greater discounts.
Q: Can anyone buy from Heritage Wholesalers?
A: Anyone can buy any of the merchandise that’s in the retail center. However, only those with valid State of Maine (or other state) resellers certificates can get the wholesale discounts offered by Heritage Wholesalers.
Q: How does the discount system work?
A: All of the inventory at Papa’s Thrift Shop & Heritage Collectibles is tagged with the retail price at which it’s sold to the general public, and also coded with the amount & type of discounts offered to vendors. For example a framed print might be priced at $12.00 retail, but would also be color coded, with the color of the tag identifying the level of discount offered to vendors. The more you buy, the deeper the discount on many items. For more information, please visit our blog at HeritageWholesalers.net, under the tab “About Heritage Wholesalers”.
Q: Do you negotiate with or allow discounts for the general public?
A: No. We’ve certainly had customers at both Papa’s Thrift Store and Heritage Collectibles (our arts & antiques shop that’s just around the corner at 189 Main St in Lewiston) try to talk us into giving them a discount on everything from 50c items to those retailing for several hundreds of dollars. Some “customers” have tried tactics that range from asking for a price break so they can afford to buy food for their pets (we are known to be huge animal lovers), to saying they would have purchased a piece of furniture if we’d let them use the bathroom but now they’ve changed their minds (that was pretty blatant! sheesh…). We no longer negotiate.
Q: Aren’t you concerned that retail customers will complain about not getting wholesale prices?
A: We’re aware that some people might, and if it becomes a real issue, we’ll always have the option of shutting down the retail portion. However, we believe the combination of retail and wholesale customers will help to make this new venture successful for everyone as the combination will make it possible for us to keep prices as low as they currently are… our prices are less than found at many of the big name thrift shops.
Q: What are the hours at Heritage Wholesalers?
A: Beginning November 16th, flea market & other vendors will be able to purchase inventory via the Heritage Wholesalers option on most Mondays from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon, and on the 2nd Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 pm, as well as by appointment. As demand grows, so will our hours.
Q: The retail center is pretty small. Will you be expanding?
A: Absolutely! We fully expect the demand for Heritage Wholesalers to grow rapidly, and as soon as it does, we’ll be moving into larger quarters – and in fact, have already been discussing this with our landlord.
Main Location: Heritage Wholesalers is located in the R H Enterprises Retail Center, which consists of Papa’s Thrift Shop, 5 Park Street and Heritage Collectibles, 189 Main Street in Lewiston 04240. The two shops are housed in the same building, around the corner from one another. .
Hours: Generally on Mondays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and the 2nd Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm. We’re also open by appointment.

Heritage Wholesalers gets its inventory from a variety of sources, including auction, close-outs and clean-outs, and donations. We sort through the merchandise we get and make sure that what’s available to vendors/retailers is in good, clean condition, ready to sell. We also put a suggested retail price on all items, although you are free to price inventory as you wish once it leaves our shop.
Because of the sources we use in obtaining merchandise, if you see something you’re interested in, you should consider buying it then, as it is highly unlikely we’ll get the exact same item in again.
